How To Give More Value On Social Media (And Gain Raving Fans)

If you’ve been in business long enough then you’ve probably heard the term value being thrown around like plates at a Greek wedding.

But what does value mean?

And how can you actually give value to your followers?

Well, a quick Google search will tell you that the word value refers to…

“The regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.”

But what does that mean when it comes to your social media content?

It’s a question that will likely have varied responses amongst other content creators.

My understanding is that…

Giving value on social media means that your content is either educating your followers or entertaining them. The best content will often achieve both of these objectives.

But there’s more to it than just posting some helpful tips or a funny meme.

Because there are so many people doing just that.

With the sheer amount of competition that you have on social media…

How do you stand out from the crowd?

The answer…

By being yourself.

I know that sounds like some cringey, cliché advice that your parents would give you before you head off onto your first date…

But it’s true.

Most “creators” on social media will make the mistake of reading a book, watching a video or listening to a podcast and then making a post based on that.

Despite the fact that whatever they’re posting about… they haven’t even tried themselves.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been guilty of it in the past.

But I quickly noticed that the content that I made based on my own personal experiences received a lot more love than the content that was based on what someone had told me.

Which is why…

When it comes to content marketing, nothing beats creating content that is based on your own personal knowledge, experiences, interests and opinions.

Ergo, not just copying some viral post you saw from some influencer 😉

how to provide more value

Designers need to create the best designs.

And meme pages need to share the funniest memes.

It’s that simple.

As for infopreneurs, the real value comes from sharing information that you have acquired from your own personal experiences.

Not just something that you read or heard on a podcast.

Because people want to hear from someone that’s actually been there, done it AND got the T-Shirt.

Not only that, they want to follow someone that speaks their language.

And no… I don’t mean English, Portuguese or whatever.

I mean content that not only speaks to you in a way that you’ll understand – but also in a way that you’ll resonate with it instantly.

Take Gary Vaynerchuk for example.

He posts every single day and I lap that s*** up like a dog to a bone.

Because he speaks to me in a way that very few other entrepreneurs do.

He comes from a European family, he cares more for others than he does himself, he doesn’t mince his words and he likes to trade Pokémon cards.

As far as I’m concerned, we could be related.

Heck, I don’t have any cards to trade but you give me a Gameboy with Pokémon Yellow and I’ll drain the batteries in less than a day.

And that’s my point.

You need to let your personality shine through in your content.

Because believe me…

Creating helpful (and relatable) content will help you to stick around long in the memory of your followers.

It could also be the very reason why they choose to hire you over your competitors.

Giving value on social media requires you to either educate or entertain your followers. The best content creators will strive to do both.

You can add value to your content by sharing your own personal experiences, interests and opinions.

By adding your own personality to your content, you will soon attract raving fans that will listen to, resonate with and act on your every word.

And if you didn’t know already, selling is so much easier when you’ve got raving fans 😏
